Good Scientific Practice

The international scientific community is becoming increasingly concerned about maintaining high standards of good scientific practice and research integrity. To this end, science institutes around the world are developing and adhering to codes of good scientific practice which set out the norms and quality standards expected of a scientist today. These codes go beyond laws and regulations by providing scientists with guidelines on expected behaviour and actions within the context of their working lives and environments.

Scientists from PRBB institutes have drawn up a common code, The Code of Good Scientific Practice of the PRBB. This code has been endorsed by all centres and forms the basis of good practice throughout the park. All scientists studying for a doctoral degree in Biomedicine at Pompeu Fabra University undertake compulsory training in research integrity by participating in the course "Science in Action". The curriculum of "Science in Action" is based on The Code of Good Scientific Practice of the PRBB.

PRBB Good Scientific Practice Working Group

The purpose of this cross-institute group is to actively share learning and good practice in scientific integrity amongst the PRBB institutes, to catalyse the development of cross-institute educational initiatives and to act as an independent support and resource for the PRBB institutes in cases of serious misconduct.
