Open Call for Young Scientists: Science Short Stories on Feb 12

Barcelona Biennal Ciutat i Ciència

In the framework of the initiative “Biennal Ciutat i Ciència” of the Barcelona Cultural Institute, the PRBB and its centres have proposed an event on February 12, 2019, at 18:30h at the PRBB Auditorium.

With the title: “Homo Sapiens Urbanus: 8 mirades científiques a l'organisme més complex que coneixem” we would like to present 8 Science Short Stories explained by young researchers of the PRBB (Postdocs and PhD students). The informative talks will last 8 minutes each and will cover the biology of Homo Sapiens [Urbanus] from a wide spectrum of points of view, from bytes and molecules to the entire organism and populations. It is a joint activity of the 6 PRBB research centres (IMIM, DECXS-UPF, CRG, ISGlobal, IBE and EMBL).

To participate in this open call, please send the following information as soon as possible by mail to with Homo Sapiens Urbanus in the subject line. Deadline is on Friday, January 25, 2019.

Confirmation of your availability on February 12, at 18:30h

Your reason for participating and previous experience talking to the general public


The jury formed by the editorial committee of El·lipse (communications managers of the centres) will select 8 candidates from the entries. We encourage applications form all scientific disciplines and previous experience is not a must.

The 8 selected speakers have the opportunity to participate in the 2-day Science Slam Training organized by the CRG, on February 6 and 7.
